After Pleading Guilty in Brutal Stabbing Death of Patterson Park Woman, 16 Year Old is Facing 45 Years of Incarceration

Alonzo Gorham-Ramos will be sentenced on January 26, 2016, for the heinous murder of Kimberly Leto. Gorham-Ramos plead guilty to brutally stabbing Leto 11 times.

Despite the state’s plea recommendation of life suspend all but 60 years incarceration, the defendant availed himself of the court’s offer to cap the defendant’s sentence at life suspend all but 45 years incarceration.

On January 31, 2014, at approximately 7:42 a.m. Baltimore Police responded to a home in the 400 block of South Elwood Avenue after the victim was found unresponsive by her boyfriend. Paramedics declared Leto dead at the home. The victim was lying face down on the living room floor in a pool of blood, a large kitchen knife was found next to her body. The victim’s boyfriend told police he heard the sound of a male voice and came downstairs where he found his girlfriend dead. The boyfriend called 911 and performed CPR until the paramedics and police arrived.

Gorham-Ramos had previously broken into the victim’s residence in August 2013, by entering through the kitchen window. During that burglary, the victim awoke and chased Gorham-Ramos from the residence until she lost sight of him. Gorham -Ramos admitted that he had committed the burglary in August 2013, and that he and another person broke into the victim’s house on January 31, 2014. Gorham-Ramos stated that during the burglary, the victim who was asleep on her couch, woke up. A pillow was put over the victim’s head as she screamed and struggled. She was stabbed multiple times until she stopped fighting. The two perpetrators then fled the home grabbing several items.

DNA testing revealed the victim’s blood on the pants of Gorham-Ramos. After being shown pictures of his bloody footprints he confessed to the murder.

Gorham -Ramos told detectives that they broke into the home because they needed money and his accomplice told him that there was a lot of cash in the house. Surveillance video from a grocery store was recovered showing Gorham-Ramos and the other defendant using a Coinstar machine, and cashing coins they stole from the home.

“It is so unfortunate that this woman senselessly lost her life at the hands of a misguided child,” State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. “I pray her family, friends, and the community feel some sense of peace knowing this perpetrator is being held accountable.”
